A suspect was shot killed and a Cayce officer was shot and wounded early Tuesday morning.
A man began firing at two Cayce Department of Public Safety officers. The incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on Lorick Street.
The man who fired at the officers was being arrested on drug charges, according to Sergeant Evan R. Antley of the Cayce Department of Public Safety.
Two officers were taken to a hospital and are reported to not have serious injuries. One officer was hurt in the confrontation with the man being arrested.

No names have been released. Antley said the coroner is going through the next-of-kin process before the name of the man killed would be released.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our officers at this time,” said Cayce Mayor Elise Partin, in a statement. “They and all our Cayce Public Safety Officers bravely protect and serve our Cayce community. We are incredibly thankful for them!”
