The City of West Columbia is constructing a temporary emergency water line on the sidewalk of the Gervais Street Bridge.

The line will connect the West Columbia Riverside Water Plant on Sunset Boulevard with the City of Columbia water system.
The emergency water assistance plan was announced Friday by West Columbia Mayor Joe Owens. Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin requested the line to help the City of Columbia’s water system that has been damaged by the recent floods in the area.
The building of the water line has resulted in the closing of Alexander Road at the Gervais Street Bridge.
