It’s mid-August, and students report to Lexington School District 2 schools Wednesday, to begin the school year. A record class of freshmen reported to USC this week and there was a football scrimmage taking place across the river at Williams-Brice Stadium, Saturday.

But it was another carefree summer Saturday on the river. Tubers and kayakers filled the Saluda on the West Columbia Riverwalk. There was no sight that we’re inching closer to fall. People on the river don’t seem to care.
