Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the man who was fatally wounded outside of a mobile home in the Rolling Meadows Mobile Home Park located on Charleston Highway in West Columbia on Sunday. He was shot shortly before midnight during what is being investigated by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department as an armed robbery.

Hector Vasquez, 45, of West Columbia sustained a single gunshot wound to his chest during the incident and later died from the injury while undergoing surgery at an area hospital.  Vasquez’s teenage son was also shot and wounded during the incident and was transported to an area hospital with only minor injuries and released.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office as well as the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate the incident.
