West Columbia has two water line breaks
The City of West Columbia has experienced two water main breaks. Water has been suspended to customers from 12th Street to the River and Highway 378 (Sunset Blvd) to E Avenue, according to a release issued Saturday, at 5;30 p.m. City crews hoped to have water restored by midnight) Sunday. Once water service is restored, a boil water notice was in effect for the areas above.
A later release (6:08 p.m. Saturday) from the the city said:
Customers in this area may have experienced low water pressure due to a break in a water line on Alexander Road. West Columbia crews are working to repair the break. Once the water line is repaired and water service is restored, water customers in this area and any water customers near this area who have lost water pressure are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking. Also, any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

Water customers may also contact customer service at City Hall between 8.30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at 803.791.1880. Emergencies occurring after hours and on weekends and holidays should be reported to the West Columbia Police Department at 803.794.0721.
