Chris Kueny, owner of Substation II in Cayce, has passed away
Chris Kueny, owner of Substation II in Cayce, has passed away. He was also, at one time, a candidate for Cayce City Council.
His passing was acknowledged on the Congaree Riverkeeper website where the following was written:
“Our community has lost a giant. Last night Chris Kueny, a founding board member of Congaree Riverkeeper passed away.” Link to Congaree Riverkeeper post
Tim James, president of the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber said Kueny “was a loyal advocate for the City of Cayce, and served on the planning commission for 20 years.” James, who is on Cayce City Council, said Kueny died from an illness that was diagnosed a few weeks ago.
Congaree River also posted:
“Chris loved our rivers and was a tireless advocate for the environment and his community. Not only did he help build Congaree Riverkeeper, but he was one of the leaders in the fight against Green Diamond, he worked to clean up and maintain the Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve (remember the photos at the sandwich shop), and he put himself on the line taking direct action on environmental issues in the 80’s.”
