Airport, Brookland-Cayce, Gray Collegiate win in baseball and soccer playoffs
The Brookland-Cayce Boys soccer team defeated Waccamaw 4-1, Monday at Fort Knox. With the win, BC will move to the 3A state championship game versus Daniel, the team BC defeated in the state championship game last year. The Bearcats will play Daniel at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Irmo.
Gray Collegiate Academy boys soccer defeated Andrew Jackson Monday and will now play for a 2A state championship. The game was tied at 2 after regulation and Gray won the game with a 4-2 advantage in penalty kicks. The War Eagles will play Christ Church Saturday at 1 p.m. at Irmo High School.
Brookland-Cayce defeated Lake City 6-1 in baseball Monday to clinch the 3A District V Championship.
The Bearcats will next play for the Lower State championship, on Thursday.
The Gray Collegiate baseball team defeated Blacksburg 9-0 and will move on.
Airport baseball lost to South Florence, by a 9-5 score in game 1, forcing a second game, Monday. Airport clinched the 4A Region Championship by winning the second game 3-1.
