Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died at the scene of a house fire that occurred in the 1600 block of Goldfinch Lane in the City of West Columbia shortly before 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Samuel Dwaine Smith, 44, of Elloree was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for a later date at MUSC.

The incident remains under investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division as well as the City of West Columbia Police Department.
