Hudson Automotive donates electric bikes to help Cayce Police Department on patrol
The Cayce Police Department announced a new partnership with Jim Hudson Automotive Group that brings an electric bike patrol to the Cayce Riverwalk.
The three bikes donated by Hudson can reach speeds up to 28 mph and last 45 miles in a charge.
“They are quiet and will allow for quick deployment,” said Cowan at a Riverwalk press conference, Thursday, that was attended by Mike Dawson, Executive Director of The River Alliance; and Jim Hudson of Jim Hudson Automotive. Cayce Councilmen Skip Jenkins and Phil Carter were also on hand for the announcement. Cowan said the use of the bikes is a part of the police department’s pro-active approach to public safety.
Mayor Elise Partin stated: “We are so thankful for our newest City partner, Jim Hudson Automotive Group. As a leader in the business community in the Midlands region, Jim selected Cayce because like us, he believes in community policing and in being a good steward of the environment.”

Cayce police officers put on a demonstration with the new bikes.
In addition to the bikes, Cayce will start using solar powered speed display signs to increase speed-limit awareness.
Jenkins lauded the environmental appeal of the new electric and solar-powered tools.
Hudson called the Riverwalk a beautiful asset and said he is always open to supporting the efforts of Cowan and local police departments.
Cowan also stated: “Technology continues to evolve policing, globally. It is incredibly important, and becoming increasingly more necessary, for police to utilize every tool possible to care for our cities. Unique to Cayce is our pursuit of E-Tech to policing efforts, adding solar power and electric resources. This allows us to lessen our impact on the environment, reduce costs to taxpayers and increase the speed and length of time we can deploy resources – all an integral part of our effort to continue to make Cayce a safe place to live, work and play.”
