Obituary of Ansel Eugene Shull

Ansel Eugene Shull – West Columbia – A Homegoing service for Ansel E. Shull, 93, of West Columbia, was held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Brookland United Methodist Church, 541 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Pastor Mark Payne officiated. The family greeted friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.

Ansel Shull passed away February 15, 2022. Born in West Columbia, he was a son of the late Dalton E. Shull and Roxie Hudson Shull. Ansel retired from the R.L. Bryan Company, and was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church, and the “Couples for Christ” sunday school class. His walk in Christ gave him the strength to sustain the many challenges of his life, and the assurance of his eternal life. Giving to others was a large part of his life; his time spent volunteering at Lexington Medical Center was a sustaining joy in his later years. Ansel was also a dedicated Clemson Tigers football fan, and attended games until recently.

Ansel is survived by his sons, Scott E. Shull (Deb) of West Columbia, Kent D. Shull (Melody) of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Bryan Shull, Carlee Anderson (Jonathan), Jameson Shull, Kate Shull; great-grandchildren, Deker Anderson, Cohen Anderson, Augusta Jane Anderson. Ansel is also survived by his beloved dachshund, Tiger. In addition to his parents, Ansel was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty Cook Shull; sons, Steven Wayne Shull and Mark Alan Shull; granddaughter, Anne Caroline Shull; grandson, Jacob Evans; sister, Thelma Shaw; brother, Dalton Shull; special friend, Patricia Sandifer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookland United Methodist Church.
