There is ice and high winds in the forecast for the area, Sunday. So West Columbia officials are preparing.
The weather situation will be monitored and responded to Sunday by city staff. Weather issues outside of the city’s responsibility area will be reported to Lexington County, the SC Department of Transportation, or Dominion Energy, said Anna Huffman, City of West Columbia Communications and Technology Director.

“We have a crew on stand by for any issues with down trees in roadways from ice and wind,” Huffman said. “We will also be in close contact with both our police and fire departments.”

Huffman also said Lexington County and the SC Department of Transportation are responsible for treating or scraping roads and bridges where it’s necessary.
