South Carolina grew 10.7% from 2010 to 2020. Only 11 counties in the state grew at a higher than 10.7 percent. Lexington County was one of those counties, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

West Columbia was the second-fastest growing municipality in Lexington County. West Columbia had a population 17,416 in 2020 and it grew by 16.2 percent from 2010 to 2020. The Town of Lexington grew by 32 percent, adding 6,000 to its population. Cayce’s population was 13,971 and it grew by 11.52 percent.

Other close-by municipalities added population. Pine Ridge grew by five percent and has a population of 2,167 and Springdale grew by more than one percent and had a population of 2,953. South Congaree’s population grew by .75 percent to 3,504.

The other ten growth counties were: Horry; Berkeley; York; Greenville; Charleston; Spartanburg; Lancaster; Dorchester; Beaufort; and Jasper.
