Midlands Technical College held a ribbon cutting and grand opening for its new Welding Technology Center Wednesday, at its Airport campus. 

The new facility represents a $4.5 million capital investment and is being added to help meet employer demand for welder education and training via MTC’s Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades curriculum. 

The Welding Technology Center adds 19 welding stations. there are 45 stations in another on-campus building. The new welding center was formerly known as the Industrial Building. 

MTC is the state’s third-largest technical school and has about 8,800 students.
