A new pizzeria is coming to to Westland Square in West Columbia.

Cucinella’s Pizzeria and Italian Ice is coming to to the spot on Sunset Boulevard that Sunshine Café and Carolina Café once occupied. Work is being done to prepare the site. The shopping center is where Food Lion is in West Columbia.

“We expect to open about New Years,” said Andrew Cucinella who is based in North Carolina. He said a local owner is opening the restaurant. Cucinella said the West Columbia store will be the fifth. There are three in Florida and one in Greenville, NC.

The Cucinella’s menu will feature Pizza, Calzones, salads, Italian ice and Gelato.

The space in Westland Square that once was the site of Happy China Buffet is being prepared to be a restaurant. The owner is not ready yet, to disclose all the details, but expect a buffet-style restaurant.
