The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood warning for parts of Lexington County, Sunday afternoon, as storms that could produce up-to 3 inches of rain moved through.
West Columbia, Cayce, Springdale, Lexington, South Congaree, Pine Ridge, and the Columbia Metro Airport were included in the Flash Flood warning.
West Columbia was once named Brookland because of all of the streams that flow through town to the Lower Saluda River. The Double Branch creek was swollen and rushing on Botanical Parkway, Sunday. The storm also resulted in fast water running on the Congaree River at Riverwalk in West Columbia.
