Jayla Jamison of Airport High School has been named the SC Gatorade Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year. It’s the third time she has been selected as the state’s Gatorade Athlete of the Year.

Jayla has signed to run track for the University of South Carolina signee has received the honor. Only two others have win the distinction from Gatorade three times.

At Airport, Jayla won four more gold medals at the South Carolina Track and Field Championships in May. She has 12 career gold medals, and Jayla was a two-time SC Coaches Association of Women’s Sports Track Athlete of the Year winner. She was also an All-State basketball player. She was named to the North-South All-Star basketball team in her senior year.
