Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in vehicle accident that occurred in the 4700 block of Edmund Highway, South Congaree, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Tuesday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Andrew William Day, 20, of Gaston was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Mr. Day was travelling east on Edmund Highway, when another vehicle, travelling west, crossed the center median, striking Mr. Day’s vehicle head on. The driver of the other vehicle, and a passenger in Mr. Day’s vehicle were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT Team.
