West Columbia Police and Fire crews investigating incident on 9th Street
Units from the West Columbia Police Department, the West Columbia Fire Department and EMS were on the scene of a business around 5:30 p.m., Monday, on 9th Street in West Columbia at Raleigh Street.
The road was blocked and officers were redirecting traffic in the area.
An investigation involving a possible bomb threat was being conducted. Raleigh Street was blocked and so was a portion of 9th Street from Sunset Boulevard to Jackson Street.
Around 6:30 p.m., Capt. Marion Boyce of the West Columbia Police Department announced that it responded to a call for service at 725 Raleigh Street (5 Star Academy Learning Center) for a bomb threat. The State Law Enforcement Division assisted officers in clearing the building and no devices were found. The West Columbia Police Department has two juvenile suspects in custody.
