Lexington Police write 16 citations during Safety Check Point, Friday
Lexington Police set up Public Safety Checkpoints, Friday. As a result 243 vehicles passed through the checkpoints.
Officers pulled 16 vehicles over and issued citations for the following violations: 11 citations were given for driving without a license or not having it in possession. There was 1 citation for possession of marijuana; 1 citation for driving on the wrong side of the road, 1 citation for unlawful window tint; 1 citation for a child restraint violation; and 1 citation for improper backing.
Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green announced the checkponts beforehand.
According to a press release from the LPD, Lexington Police Officers conducted the Public Safety Checkpoints in response to collision incidents, Citizen Traffic Complaints, and previous enforcement focused on speeding and unsafe driving practices. Officers were checking for driver’s licenses, vehicle registration, and insurance requirements.
