A body was found in the Saluda River in Columbia, Wednesday, according to the Columbia Police Department.
A call came in after 12 noon that the body had been found in the water in the area of Candi Lane, close to the Greystone Boulevard exit at I – 126. The river separates Lexington and Richland counties.
Michael Mayo of Palmetto Outdoor said he was told the Columbia Police was on the scene and there was a body in the water near Mill Race Rapids. Mayo cautioned river users to wear a life jacket.
Investigators do not suspect foul play. The Richland County Coroner’s office will have an autopsy conducted to determine the cause of death.
