Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the name of the person who died in a motorcycle accident that occurred at the 104-mile marker of Interstate 26 westbound in the Columbia area of Lexington County, Saturday, at 1:38 a.m.

Fisher stated that Mr. Preston Wayne Grantham, 32 years old, of West Columbia was traveling westbound on I-26 when his motorcycle struck the back of a vehicle also traveling westbound.  Mr. Grantham was thrown from his motorcycle and was then struck by possibly one or more vehicles that did not remain on the scene.

Mr. Grantham, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate this accident.
