The City of Cayce is grieving following the heartbreaking death of a city employee who died the morning of Monday, October 5, 2026 while at work after experiencing a medical emergency, city officials announced.

Emergency personnel responded to a call at approximately 9:00 a.m. First responders administered emergency care, but the employee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Out of deep respect for the employee’s family, their identity is being withheld at this time while loved ones are given space to process this profound loss.

“We are absolutely heartbroken by the tragic loss of one of our valued city team members,” said Michael Conley, Cayce City Manager. “Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the family, friends, and colleagues. The entire city family is mourning today, and we are committed to supporting our staff and the family through this incredibly
difficult time.”

An investigation is being conducted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and city officials are cooperating fully to determine the precise cause of the tragedy.
