Upgrades at West Columbia’s Water Treatment Plant on Lake Murray are processing, according to a post on the City of West Columbia Facebook page. The approximately $86 million project is expected to be completed in early 2028. It’s one of the largest infrastructure investments in West Columbia’s history.

The upgrades at the plant will bring advanced treatment technology to the plant and expands capacity from 22.5 million to 36 million gallons per day, to serve the growth in the region for decades. 

The plant improvement is a result of careful and long-term planning looks like, in an effort to deliver safe, reliable drinking water today and in the future.
