Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the woman who died in a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident in the 1800 block of Frink Street in Cayce on Aug. 23, shortly before 3:30 a.m.

According to Fisher, Ms. Janyne Renee Mbeng, 37, of Cayce, was walking in the road on Frink Street when she was struck by a vehicle traveling on Frink Street. Ms. Mbeng was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle that struck Ms. Mbeng did not stop at the scene or report the accident.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT, and the Cayce Police Department continue to investigate the incident.
