West Columbia City Council passed first reading of an ordinance that would result in the the conveyance of the B Avenue Ball Park to the Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission.

In response to a question from Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Green, Justin Black, Sr. Asst. City Administrator and Treasurer, who presented the ordinance to council, said the LCRAC plans to invest in the ball park and make improvements.

Mayor Tem Miles said the conveyance includes only the ball park and not the B-Avenue Community Center across the street from the ball park. Green said he has noticed moldy concrete and lose shingles at the ball park facility. Black said the county has plans to make improvemts.
