Man dies after being shot in West Columbia, Corey Jones sought by police
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who was fatally shot in the 500 block of Luke Street, West Columbia, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Thursday.
According to Fisher, Mr. Harkeem Quaman Akins, 30, of Gaston was pronounced dead upon arrival at an area hospital after being transported from the scene. Mr. Akins had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. The incident is under investigation by the West Columbia Police Department.
The West Columbia Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a person of interest in a death investigation.
The West Columbia Police Department responded to the 500 block of Luke Street in West Columbia in reference to a shooting and found that Harkeem Akins had died as a result of this shooting and an investigation has established a person of interest in the case. Investigators are seeking information on the whereabouts of thirty-seven-year-old Corey Anthony Jones of West Columbia. Corey is five feet two inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.
