One person was killed in Lexington County Wednesday in a crash involving three vehicles.

Master Trooper William H. Bennett of the SC Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 6:50 a.m. at S.C. 6 and WE Jeffcoat Road, between Pelion and Swansea.

A 2002 International tractor-trailer was traveling east on S.C. 6, Bennett said, when the trailer attached to the truck was hit by a 2023 Kia Rio going north on WE Jeffcoat Road. The tractor-trailer, after it was hit by the Rio, went off the right side of the road and overturned.

A dark-colored sedan (make and model unknown) said Bennett, was heading west on S.C. 6 when it struck the driver of the Kia and then left the scene.

The driver of the Rio died at the scene as a result of injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to the hospital by EMS. (Photos provided by the SC Highway Patrol)
