
Lexington County Coroner releases the name of the man killed Saturday in a vehicle vs. moped collision
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of the person who was killed in a vehicle vs. moped collision on Saturday, June 27, at approximately 9:25 P.M. at the intersection of Calks Ferry Road and Old Charleston Road in Lexington County.
Fisher states that Mr. Russell Douglas Fowler, 40, of Pelion was riding a moped and traveling southbound on Calks Ferry Road when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Old Charleston Road struck the moped. Mr. Fowler was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries he received from the collision. The driver and a passenger in the vehicle that struck Mr. Fowler were uninjured and remained on scene.
The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol as well as the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
