Mayor Tem miles and West Columbia City Council recognized the Brookland-Lakeview Empowerment Center – BLEC 21st Century Afterschool students for promoting pedestrian safety awareness at the Special Council Meeting on Monday, June 15.

In partnership with the Active and Accessible Community Transit Coalition, SCDOT, and the South Carolina Department of Public Health, these talented students wrote, directed, acted in, and produced a Public Service Announcement video! The PSA helps educate our community on how drivers and pedestrians can safely share the roadway using the new crosswalk and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon at the North 12th and Monticello St, which became operational this spring.
