The Town of South Congaree announced Tuesday morning that Police Chief CJ Quinlan, is no longer employed by the Town.

The Town of South Congaree officially swore in Carl J. “C.J.” Quinlan as its new Chief of Police during a ceremony held during the February 17, 2026, Town council meeting. 

“Personnel matters are handled in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. As this is a personnel matter, the Town will not comment further on specific details surrounding the separation” a press release read.

Also: “The Town and its leaders remain committed to maintaining professional leadership within our Police Department and ensuring continued public safety services for the community. The operations of the South Congaree Police Department will continue without interruption.”
