
Man shot and killed, Lexington County Coroner releases victim’s name, Sheriff’s detectives and West Columbia Police investigating
Lexington County detectives are following leads they have developed in a deadly shooting investigation. They shooting occurred in the area of Hammond Avenue in West Columbia early Friday morning. Hammond Avenue is off of Augusta Road, near Dreher Road.
First responders were called there after a person who was bleeding started knocking on doors asking for help. The person was eventually transported and died at the hospital. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident between two people who knew each other or had some previous connection.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the identity of a man who was shot on Friday.
Fisher stated that Mr. Charles Boyd Moore Jr., 54, of West Columbia, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to a gunshot wound to the upper body. An autopsy has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, at MUSC in Charleston.
The West Columbia Police Department, The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, and the Lexington
County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate this incident.
