
Dickerson and Burris to be new middle school principals at Busbee and Pine Ridge in Lexington 2

At its February 26 meeting, the Lexington School District Two Board of Trustees announced the selection of two principals for the 2026-2027 school year:
- Alicia Dickerson, interim principal at Busbee Creative Arts Academy since July 1, has been selected to the post permanently
- Rebecca Burriss, assistant principal at Busbee, will become principal at Pine Ridge Middle School
Their hirings were approved by the board and recommended by Interim Superintendent Dr. Angela Cooper.
Alicia Dickerson is an experienced educator with more than 25 years of service in Lexington Two. She has worked with students and families across several schools, including as Assistant Principal of Instruction at Brookland-Cayce High and as an English teacher at Brookland-Cayce, Northside Middle School, Airport High School, and Gilbert High School. A graduate of Lexington Two schools, Ms. Dickerson has a bachelor’s degree from Newberry College, a master’s in education from Capella University, and is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at Gardner-Webb University. Her focus is on building relationships, setting high expectations, and supporting students in and out of the classroom.
Ms. Burriss has held a number of leadership positions at Busbee, including assistant principal since 2023 and administrative assistant and ELA department head, which were her first roles there in 2022. She began her career as an English teacher at Branchville High School in 2016. Currently, she supports schoolwide priorities with a primary focus on instruction, testing, and daily operations. She implemented schoolwide clubs in 2022 and is the lead for the Schools to Watch Focus Committee and a member of the Model PLC at Work School. She has a bachelor’s degree in education from Clemson University, a master’s in curriculum and instruction from Claflin University, and a master’s in educational administration and leadership from Columbia College.
Their roles are effective July 1.
