The South Carolina General Assembly has passed a resolution (H. 4923) to honor the late Gus Manos, who owned Zesto in West Columbia for almost 65 years. The resolution requests the Department of Transportation name the portion of 12th Street from Jarvis Klapman Boulevard to Knox Abbott Drive as “Gus Manos Memorial Street.” Zesto is on the current 12th Street.

The resolution was introduced by State Rep. Micah Caskey, passed both the House and Senate, and was recalled from the Committee on Transportation on Feb. 5.

Manos, also served on Springdale Town Council for 42 years.
Manos died on December 19, 2025. He was 88. He immigrated to America from Greece at age 11. Manor was a U.S. Army veteran, and he received the Order of the Palmetto in 2025.

The resolution states that due to Manos’ lifelong commitment to public service and his impact on the community, the naming is “fitting and proper.”
