Closed Shell station property on Knox-Abbott Drive in Cayce not zoned for student housing, despite social media rumors prompting calls to Cayce City Council member
At a Cayce City Council meeting Wednesday Cayce City Council Member Tiffany Aull, said that rumors regarding a high-profile Cayce property, are unfounded. The Shell Gas Station on Knox Abbott, at Axtell Drive, has closed and that has sparked speculation about the fate of the property.

“I’ve had several calls about the Shell Station, and that USC has bought that property and student housing is going there. I want to set the record straight, I, and to my knowledge, nor anybody else on this council is aware of that.”
Aull said that a social media site may be where the speculation is coming from. She said the site is not associated with the City of Cayce. “If you are looking for information about the City of Cayce, I’d encourage you to go to the (City of Cayce) website.”
Cayce Mayor Elise Partin added: “The Shell property on the corner of Knox-Abbott and Axtell, it’s not even zoned for apartments.” The property is zoned for commercial use, and if it were rezoned, it would be a “very public process,” she said, requiring zoning board and city council meetings.
