Cayce City Councilman Byron Thomas selected as Chairman of the National League of Cities 2026 Small Cities Leadership Council

Cayce Dist. 2 City Councilman, Byron Thomas, has been selected as the incoming Chair of the National League of Cities 2026 Small Cities Leadership Council.

“I am extremely humbled and honored to be named Chairman of the Small Cities Council for the National League of Cities,” Thomas said. “Having the opportunity to advocate for, support, and uplift small cities across the United States, while working to grow our representation within the National League of Cities, is a tremendous responsibility. It will be challenging, but I’m hungry and ready to take our council to new heights.”

Cayce City Manager, Michael Conley, stated, “Our City could not be prouder of Councilman Thomas’ being selected from elected officials across the nation to lead the National League of Cities’ 2026 Small Cities Leadership Council. His passion, leadership, and dedicated representation for District 2 and the City of Cayce will now be seen on the national level!”

As Chairman of NLC’s 2026 Small Cities Leadership Council, Councilman Thomas will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking and the development of resources and programs beneficial to communities that share demographics, size or location that can be replicated across the country.

“National League of Cities’ member councils design and create NLC’s policies that bring together innovative ideas and solutions to the biggest challenges facing local leaders across the country,” said National League of Cities President Kevin Kramer, Councilmember, Louisville, Ky. “I am thrilled to have Cayce’s Councilman Thomas lead NLC’s 2026 Small Cities Leadership Council this year as we work together to ensure our cities, towns and villages have the resources they need to create thriving communities.”
