West Columbia Police Department Partners with Walmart and Local Schools to Host Food Drive for Children in Need

The West Columbia Police Department, in collaboration with Walmart, Lexington County School District Two, and Charter Schools within the City of West Columbia, is partnering to host a food drive on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Walmart located at 2401 Augusta Road, West Columbia. Due to recent uncertainties regarding SNAP benefits, they aim to assist as many children in the City of West Columbia as possible.

As community members do their Sunday grocery shopping for the week, officers will be outside, ready to accept nonperishable donations and unexpired food items that will go directly into the homes of West Columbia schoolchildren in the most need.

Chief Marion Boyce said, “It all began when an officer expressed concern for students in the city who could be struggling to have enough to eat. Our team came together, and I am proud of our officers’ care for these children. I look forward to seeing our West Columbia community come out and support our local children in need.” Officers will distribute the collected food items directly to the schools after the food drive.
