Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a single-vehicle accident in the 1600 block of Jim Spence Road in the Lexington area of Lexington County on Sunday, at approximately 5:25 a.m.

According to Fisher, Mr. George Hall Gomez Jr., 17, of Leesville, was traveling southbound on Jim Spence Road when he left the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Mr. Gomez, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained in the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
