Lexington man dies after hitting deer on I-20, early Monday morning

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a single-vehicle accident near the 42 mile-marker of I-20 westbound in the Leesville area of Lexington County on Monday at approximately 6:12 a.m.

According to Fisher, Mr. George Woodrow Stoudemire III, 55, of Lexington, was traveling westbound on I-20 when he struck a deer, went off the left side of the roadway, and struck a tree. Mr. Stoudemire, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
