After an extensive search, followed by candidate interviews, the Board of Directors has voted by acclamation for Christina Nelson to assume the role of Interim CEO/President on January 1, 2026.

“I am so excited to be offered this opportunity, one that will allow me to continue to serve the area that I love and call home, while also being in a position that allows me to positively impact our business community,” said Christina Nelson.

The Board appointed a Search Committee comprised of various Chamber and Tourism stakeholders in May, since that time the Committee developed a job description, which outlined qualifications and requirements that will meet the future demands of this vital role. Once completing this phase, the position was posted through various professional sites that included Chamber and Visitor program associations, as well as other outlets that yielded applicants from North and South Carolina.

Lindsey Miles, Chamber Chair said, “after an extensive search, our Board recognized the many qualities possessed by our internal candidate and are proud to see our program remain on the trajectory that has brought us many successes.”

While Christina has served the CWC Chamber in various capacities over the last 4 years, she will now have the opportunity to learn the CEO roles by working alongside the current CEO/President Tim James through 2025. On January 1, 2026, Tim will assume the board appointed role of Past- President and remain in as Mentor-Past President capacity for Christina Nelson.
