Get an ice cream cone at Zesto or a cool drink at Brickhouse or The Hideout in WECO on these hot, West Columbia summer days

When temperatures rise outside, you may need something cool in your body. Ice cream is a summertime favorite and there are West Columbia businesses that offer a cool drink in a comfortable atmosphere.

A Zesto ice cream cone, dipped in a chocolate coating, is a great way to top off your Zesto chicken dinner, burger or hot dog. 

Pete Manor – Zesto

Zesto, at 504 12th Street, in Triangle City is known for its gigantic ice cream cone that sits in front of the building. The “chocolate-dipped cone in the sky” is a landmark. It made its debut in front of Zesto in 1981, When Gus Manos was running the restaurant. Pete, the son of Gus who now runs Zesto, was in high school when the cone was put up.

The iconic cone is made of steel and fiberglass and it has a large pole that runs through the center of it. The cone was created by well-known sculptor and artist Stavros Chrysostomides, who died in 2007.

You can get ice coffee to cool off too.

Akera Sellers is the owner of BrickHouse Gourmet Coffee and Tea Co. at 729 Meeting St. If you want to sit and visit, with a cold brew, Brickhouse can accommodate you.

The Hideout in WECO Coffee Shop is another West Columbia favorite for a cool and refreshing drink.
The Hideout serves iced coffee, frozen coffee and smoothies. Creativity when it comes to the drinks is the tradition at The Hideout.

Some flavors include: the honey nut cheerio cold brew; the Hound Dog (inspired by the Elvis sandwich) smoothie with peanut butter, bacon, and banana with maple syrup and yogurt; and the black banana pudding smoothie.
