City of Cayce issues statement detailing its transparency efforts after Social Media Gossip attacks

The City of Cayce issued a statement (included below or Click Here) detailing its efforts to make sure all of its actions are transparent. The statement comes after attacks and accusations of non-transparency came from Social Media Gossip commentary.

The following post is a City Communication Update from our Cayce Public Information Officer:

The City of Cayce places tremendous value on transparency and what we refer to as “over-communication” to our Cayce citizens. It is rare we have to correct misinformation; however, we want you to know the facts. Your input and your voice matter to each of us.

1. Over the course of the last 20 days, our city leaders met SIX times regarding the process of hiring a City Manager: each agenda was published on our website with more than 24 hours advance notice. Citizens are encouraged to attend each meeting and give your input! We are here to serve and represent you!

2. We also publish the full agenda packet – staff memos, RFP bid comparisons, budget line items and more at the time we publish each agenda. You can review those here: https://caycesc.gov/minutes.php (*Most cities only publish an agenda to meet their legal requirement.)

3. This morning’s meeting was published online 3 days ago on June 20. Further, for our residents that follow virtually, our Cayce Mayor made sure to share the date of today’s upcoming meeting at the previous Council meeting on June 18. You can view those comments, and all previous Council meeting videos, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biO45-QPbqU

4. Before most meetings, we post a graphic with the agenda, a link to the full agenda packet, a link to watch the meeting virtually if you can not join us in person, and a link for how you can contact your member of Cayce City Council directly. After most meetings, we also publish Council Cliff’s Notes so it is easy to see how votes are taken on important city matters.

Finally, if you are unable to find an agenda, or a link to an agenda packet, we have an incredible city staff that is always ready to assist you.
