State Street Trading Company is expecting a shipment of Dawn Staley’s new book, “UNCOMMON FAVOR,” to arrive at the shop soon. The book is scheduled to hit the shelves May 20.

“Dawn Staley’s book has been shipped to us and we’re waiting on it,” said Lainie Lewis, owner of State Street Trading Company, at 134 State Street in West Columbia.

Dawn is a resident of West Columbia. The City of West Columbia has proclaimed May 4, her birthday, as Dawn Staley Day.

“As a small business owner and a proud member of the West Columbia community, I’m thrilled to carry Coach Staley’s new memoir, “Uncommon Favor” at State Street Trading Company,” said Lewis. “Books will be available for sale beginning Tuesday, May 20, during normal business hours right in the heart of our beautiful city.”

Lewis is a personal fan of Staley and her National Championship coaching career at the University of South Carolina.

“I so admire Coach Staley. Not only is she transforming the landscape of Women’s Basketball, but she’s also changing the lives of the young women she coaches,” Lewis said. “She’s not just a coach, she’s a mentor, a role model, and a true leader. Because of her, I’ve watched more women’s basketball in the last three years than I did in the previous twenty.”

Lewis said she is anticipating reading “UNCOMMON FAVOR – Basketball, North Philly, My Mother, and the Life Lessons I Learned from All Three.”
