The Modern Locksmith.com at 538 Knox-Abbott Drive in Cayce is owned by Guy and Amy Caskey. It’s a local business offering a wide range of traditional locksmith and modern access control services.

The Modern Locksmith specializes in Keys, Locks, Safes, Sales, Service, Installation, and Repairs for your Auto, Home, and Business, providing Access Control, Biometrics, and Transponder Chip Keys.

Management of the location in Cayce consists of Phillip “Flip” Reynolds and Josh LeCours. The Modern Locksmith also has a mobile service, with 10 vehicles that serve a 30-mile radius.

The Modern Locksmith is a part of Irmo Lock Company. It was founded in 1989 by Skey Caskey, Guy’s father. Since opening, the business has evolved into the region’s premier full-service locksmith company. Besides The Modern Locksmith and Irmo Lock, there’s a Modern Locksmith  location in Lugoff. In all, there are close to 25 employees working for the company and The Modern Locksmith is now hiring.

The Modern Locksmith opened in Cayce in November of 2021. It is housed in the iconic round building that was once a Cayce Hardee’s location.

“We’re a second-generation family business,” Guy said. “And we’re proud to be local and involved in the community.” Guy’s brother is State Rep. Micah Caskey.

Amy said the business has continued to grow by perfecting its expertise in traditional locksmith services, while embracing the technology needed to implement large-scale security and access control. “We’re constantly working to stay on top of technology,” she said. “Technology makes management of security and access easier.”

Cayce City Councilman Tim James represents the district where The Modern Locksmith is located. He said the business, and the family that owns it, has a sterling reputation.  

“The Modern Locksmith is a long-time Midlands family-owned and operated small business. We’re thankful they invested in Cayce by opening a second location here,” he said. “The Modern Locksmith is known for its excellent service.  They are a professional group of folks and I’m so glad they restored the iconic “hat building” on Knox-Abbott Drive that was once a Hardee’s.
