Cayce’s Trini Lime Caribbean Café is the taste of authentic island spice without leaving home
Do you want a wonderful Island dining experience without leaving town? Try Trini Lime Caribbean Café at 2008 State Street, Cayce. Sullange Soloman is the owner. She is from Trinidad and she knows the flavors of her home.
Trini Lime specializes in Trinibagoian food with cuisine from all over the Caribbean, which includes a fusion of African, Creole, Cajun, Amerindian, European, Latin American, East and North Indian and Chinese. The walls of the restaurant are adorned with tropical floral art.
“I love the food of Trinidad,” Sullange said. “And I love to cook using the spices from my home. It brings me joy to spread the culture of home with others.”
Sullange said she began cooking at the age of 9, inspired by her grandmother, Volda Solomon Jules, who loved creating unique and unforgettable dishes.
Signature Trinibagoian menu items at Trini Lime include Aloo Pies, Doubles and Roti. Aloo pie is bread filled with seasoned potatoes, Doubles are similar to flatbread with curry chickpeas, flavored with tamarind sauces, cucumber chutney and pepper sauce if you like spicy.
Cayce Mayor Elise Partin is a patron.
“We love having Trini Lime in the Cayce Arts District,” she said. “And I love to dine there.”
Partin mentioned the Shark Sandwich and the Sorrel, a specialty drink.
Cayce City Councilman Byron Thomas is also a regular customer at Trini Lime.
“It is really good food,” he said. “One of my favorites is the Rasta Pasta, but I’ve tried other foods there, too. It’s always exciting cuisine and the service is exceptional. Trini Lime is a great addition to the line-up of places to eat in Cayce. It’s a cultural experience that I’d recommend. “We’re so glad to have them.”
Thomas also said Sullange has blended well into the community, working to serve groups of students from Brookland-Cayce High School in the evening hours in coordination with Art-on-State that is across the street from the café.
In addition to prepared foods, Sullange sells signature sauces or naturally flavored drinks including passion fruit, ginger beer, and hibiscus.
Trini Lime food is available for Take Out, Delivery, and Catering. Many of the spices and drinks are sold for take-out.
