Tim James leaving his position as President and CEO of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce at the end of 2025
Tim James, President, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia (CWC) Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Programs has announced his decision to leave the position at the end of 2025.

In 2020, just weeks before the COVID Pandemic stifled the economy, Tim James was asked to take the helm for the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce. Thomas Tafel, then Chamber Chairman recalls that “finances were very slim, and we were only weeks away from dire straits”. Tim came in to assist, and shortly thereafter, because of a strong and mutual respect between the Board of Directors and the leadership Tim was providing, he was offered the opportunity to remain in the position of CEO.
Since that time, through three Chamber Chairs and a great team of board members, the Chamber has achieved many successes, to include a revenue stream that allows the mission of the program to excel.
“Not only did Tim suggest upgrades to our procedures and policies, but he also led the Chamber to develop a new vision that set us on a trajectory of excellence; our Board welcomed his expertise, which resulted in the unprecedented successes and benefits that our members are enjoying today” says Hayley Bowers, former Chair.
In addition to the relationships developed and ability to serve his community, Tim is proud of the recognition the Chamber and its members has realized over the last four years, to include a rebrand process, becoming an Accredited Chamber Program, two Carolinas Excellence in Communications Awards, as well as being named the 2024 Chamber of Commerce of the Year by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
Lindsey Miles, current Chair says “this job is Tim’s as long as he desires it, he has done an incredible job; but we want to respect his wishes and we are happy that he has allowed us ample transition time that will keep our Chamber moving in a great direction.
The Chamber Board will begin the search process soon; with the first step having a consultation with the Chamber of Commerce Executives Association of SC/NC, as well as with area Chamber and Visitor Program leaders, to ensure that best practices are followed in the search and appointment of the new CEO.
