West Columbia florists offer Valentine’s Day flowers, and see dining options at local restaurants
Valentine’s Day is Friday. Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14. It originated as a feast day honoring Saint Valentine, a martyr, according to Wikipedia. Valentine’s Day has become a significant cultural, religious and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.
The florists of West Columbia can accommodate you for Valentine’s Day, so be sure to shop local for flowers. Do not use wire services like FTD, Teleflora or 1-800-FLOWERS. They are brokers who act as “the middle man” taking part of an amount for the floral purchase and keeping it out of the local economy. Call your local florist directly, or go to their authentic website, or place of business, to order.
Jarrett’s Jungle, a local florist at 1621 Sunset Boulevard, is a hot-spot for Valentine’s Day flowers.
“We’ll sell 6,000-to-7,000 roses for Valentine’s Day,” said Jackie MaCaulay, owner of Jarrett’s Jungle. She also said mixed flower arrangements, the European baskets, are available and sell very well for Valentine’s. And that’s not all. “
Our Hawaiian tropical flowers come in daily from Hawaii. they last a long time after Valentine’s Day,” Jackie said. She also said her proconus roses are shipped in water and the roses last for two weeks after Valentine’s Day.
Jackie said Friday will be a busy day at Jarrett’s Jungle because “men have a tendency to wait until the last minute.” So you better get in early.”

If you want a romantic Valentine’s evening dining, West Columbia has the restaurant venue for you.
Valentine’s dining is a reservation-only night at DeLucca’s Italian Grill at 1720 Sunset Boulevard. The restaurant offers a set menu for Valentines, said Lynn Raley of DeLucca’s.

Black Rooster has a terrace in the shadow of the Gervais Street Bridge and the lights from across the river are in full view in the evening sky.
