52 new town houses could be coming to the West Columbia Riverwalk off of Sunset Boulevard
There could be some new development on the West Columbia Riverwalk. A plan to build 52 town houses off of Sunset Boulevard, a project called Trailhead Townhomes, is being considered. Developer Dustin Johns was at a “Called Meeting” of the West Columbia Planning Commission Monday. He talked to The State newspaper about the plan. He also said in a Facebook post about the project: “Not a secret any longer…. Received unanimous approval from West Cola planning commission tonight for my development, Trailhead! Luxury townhomes on the river. Much more to follow…….”
If plans are approved by West Columbia City Council, the townhomes would be built on 3.15 acres at 620 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia, on the west side of the Jarvis Klapman Boulevard on-ramp, near the Moffatt Street entrance to Riverwalk. The planning commission approved a map amendment to establish a PUD-C on approximately 3.15 acres at 620 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia, Monday. A public hearing on the development with West Columbia City Council is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The property would contain some retail space, along with the residences. The site is west of the House of Raeford poultry processing plant and across from the Capitol Square shopping center. Flow Townhomes have been built on the other side of the poultry processing plant.
