60% chance of snow in Lexington County, Tuesday night – SCDOT preparing for potential winter weather impact
The South Carolina Department of Transportation has begun preparing for potential winter weather impacts throughout the state. In Lexington County, There is a 60 percent chance of snow Tuesday night, according to The Weather Channel forecast. The low Tuesday night is forecast to be 22 degrees. There is a 40 percent chance of snow Tuesday afternoon, with less than one-inch accumulation. There is a 60 percent chance of snow, in showers, Tuesday night, with one-to-three inches of snow expected.
SCDOT will continue to prepare and monitor the weather as time goes on. As we learn more, you may see crews spraying salt brine or salting the roadways, please slow down and leave room between your vehicle and the salt truck. This increases safety and protects your vehicle from damage caused by salt or salt brine.
Crews will begin with interstate and primary routes and will work their way into secondary roads in preparation. Once we begin to see impacts, crews will shift to monitoring the roadways and de-icing.
