Vendors, and shoppers, plan to be back for West Columbia’s Meeting Street Artisan Market – See the schedule for 2025
The last West Columbia Meeting Street Artisan Market took place in December of 2024. Throughout the year, dozens of vendors gathered at the market at 425 Meeting Street to present items ranging from artwork and specialty soap to leather goods and unique jewelry designs.
In 2025, the West Columbia Meeting Street Artisan Market will open on April 26, during Kinetic Derby Day. The market will also be open on May 9, for the Art on State event, before opening for the season on June 5, with 18 more dates in 2025 to follow.
Artisan Market shoppers, like Susie Day, said she is looking forward to the opening of the market in 2025. She discovered the Artisan Market when she came to a West Columbia Fall Back Fest three years ago, when the market was open in the evening hours.
“I really enjoy going from booth to booth at the market. Each time I’ve been to the market there is something new, something I haven’t seen before. And usually the vendors created whatever they are selling themselves. That’s neat. I love talking to them about their creations. I’m not just a looker, I’m a buyer. I’ve bought a leather bag there and a few jewelry pieces and I’ll buy baked goods, too if they have them. I buy the jewelry to give away as gifts.”
Nerd Bear Soap is a past Meeting Street Artisan Market vendor and the soap will be back in 2025.
Chris Weiss and Laura Kistler are the creators of Nerd Bear Soap. They describe themselves as the ultimate father-daughter duo. Chris is passionate about creating unique soap designs that may look like the South Carolina State flag or the sun rising over the ocean.
Laura markets the soap creations and helps with ideas for new designs.
“We love the venue of the Artisan Market in West Columbia and we plan to be back as soon as it is on again in the new year,” said Laura.
Andrea Williams of Lexington County’s Fire Barrel Farm likes the Meeting Street Artisan Market. She is a certified canner. At the market she has sold honey, and homemade jams and jellies. She has also brought squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggs and corn to sell.
“I have my own bees and I produce local honey,” Andrea said. “The honey and the jams and jellies sell well. I plan to be back at the market in 2025 and I’m planning on bringing pickles and canned vegetables and the goat milk soap I make.”
