Hunter Helms, former Gray Collegiate and Clemson QB, shines as the University of Rhode Island wins CAA Conference Championship

Hunter Helms, former Gray Collegiate Academy quarterback and QB at Clemson, helped Rhode Island win its first ever Coastal Athletic Association Conference Championship, Saturday. He started the game and threw for 209 yards and a touchdown in URI’s 35-21 win over Bryant.

Rhode Island finished the year at 10-2 (a record number of wins) and earned a berth in the D1 FSC playoff. It’s the Ram’s first since 1985. URI will play Central Connecticut State in the first round on at nonn on Saturday in the opening round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
